The Marine Institute environmental chemistry facility comprises a range of modern analytical for the analysis of trace metals in various matrices equipment (CV-AFS, FAAS and GFAAS) and for the analysis of organic contaminants, hydrocarbons and oil spill identification (GC-MS, GC-ECD and HPLC).
In addition the Marine Institute facilities include a salinometer and segregated flow analyser for chemical oceanography.
